5 things to remember on your wellness journey

1. DRINK WATER

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate, oh my gosh it’s so important. I need to get back on the hydration train. I admit I am not great at it, but I am starting to fill a water bottle every time I leave the house…I find I really chug water on my commute.

2. REALISTIC GOALS

Set realistic goals for yourself in the gym. Really think about how many workouts you can accomplish each week and stick to it. I find the people that jump into going to the gym 6-7x a week only last a couple of weeks and then they are back on the couch binging Ted Lasso saying "well, if I missed today I messed up the whole week, I’ll start again next week." Instead, set a goal of 2 workouts a week, if you go more great, if you don’t that’s okay! Minimum two, I promise you will find consistency.

3. GET YOUR GREENS

Add them in, actually add lots of color to your diet. Again, everything is in moderation, no need to eat only salads but start to be conscious of what colors are on your plate. Also, take note of what gives you energy after you eat it and what slows you down.

4. BUDDY UP

Surround yourself with like-minded people. Friends and family who hold their health & wellness as a top priority. Get matching outfits and schedule a workout class with a friend. Find someone you can chat with about exercise technique, meet with once a week, or someone who could program workouts for you when you go to the gym you know exactly what to do (ooooo *shameless plug*)

5. PRACTICE PATIENCE

Be kind to yourself. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your habits, health, or body composition. It’s a long-term game, remember why you are doing it and make it FUN. If you set short-term, vanity-driven goals you are more likely to give up than if you set goals like:

“I’m doing this so that next time my dog runs away, I’ll be ready”

“…to chase after my niece and nephew”

“… to sing and dance at the same time”

Either way, surround yourself with positivity and believe in yourself!
